The Sunday walk was dictated by the fact that it was Philo’s birthday. What with the adventure at Eton and Windsor, the change of shift and then the Easter weekend it was the first chance I’d had to get his present. Of course I knew exactly what I was going to get, I just hadn’t had time to go and get it. So, the plan was to walk into town and back, killing two birds with one stone. Moonwalk training cancelled due to snow – first published 18 January 2013

They say the best laid plans… I knew there was likely to be snow for my Friday walk so I made plans. In fact I spent the whole evening planning out a walk that would be good if it did snow. Of course I wasn’t really expecting more than a light dusting because that’s all we ever get. When I woke up to a blizzard on 18 January 2013 though, all my plans went out of the window.

Bad weather in January 2013 scuppered all my plans to get outside. Although I needed to get cracking with the Moonwalk training I ended up spending most of my time in the kitchen cooking. Love and landmarks

Commando and I don’t do Valentines Day. There are no hearts and flowers, heart shaped chocolates or fancy, expensive cards in our house. That is not to say we are not romantic, we just don’t need a special day to show how much we love each other. In the spirit of St Valentine though, I thought I’d revisit a landmark from our past for my Tuesday walk. July 2012 was coming to a end and, along with it, my time at Mad House. So far I’d had three interviews for two jobs but I’d still not been offered one. My nerves were stretched tighter than an over tightened guitar string and the prospect of unemployment loomed.
