After my trip to london there was no time for a lazy, restful morning because Commando had a race to run. It wasn’t just any race either, it was the Gosport Half Marathon, the longest race he’d ever run. He’d been training hard and I had no doubt he’d finish but, even so, there wasa little kernel of worry in the back of my mind. What if something went wrong? What if he did t make it in the time he wanted? What if I got lost on the walk I’d planned while he was running? ok, so we all know which of those was the more likely to happen… Continue reading the Gosport half marathon – first published 18 November 2012

Moonwalk Deja Vu – first published 9 November 2012

After my first Moonwalk was over I told anyone who would listen, “never again.” The training took all my spare time. I had horrible blisters, all sorts of aches and pains and some of those long walks in bad weather were the stuff of nightmares. Waking twenty six point two miles around London all through the night was gruelling to say the least, especially for someone who likes to be in bed by eleven. Shortly after eight on Sunday morning Commando and I were in Mattie Matiz setting off for the Gosport Half Marathon. Unsurprisingly it was raining. It seems I’m going to have to learn to love walking in the rain or give up altogether. The first option is difficult, the second impossible. This was the third Gosport Half for Commando and the first one we haven’t got lost getting to. Before you say anything he has always been both driver and navigator. The old Fatgirslimblog is gone forever but I have been able to salvage some of it. The backups I made a couple of weeks age have saved all the text and, with the help of my techy friend at LCN, I have managed to rescue many of the photos. Of course that’s just half the story because putting the two together again is going to be a long, slow, labour intensive process. Some things will be lost forever. Anyone who has followed me for any length of time may experience a few flashes of deja vu as I pop in the odd old post. Now it’s a matter of deciding what to save and what to discard. So, let’s start at the very beginning with my very first post. Continue reading Let’s start at the very beginning – first published 8 July 2012
