Our time in Morocco was coming to an end. That’s the problem with holidays, they’re never long enough and the final days are always tinged with a little sadness at the approach of normal, mundane everyday life waiting at home. Even with a new job to look forward to I wished I could stay a little longer. Continue reading last days in Morocco – first published 13 August 2012

A palace and a souk in one walk – first published 11 august 2012
One of the delights of North Africa for me is haggling. For some reason I’m quite good at it. Morocco is a very male dominated society and the shopkeepers find it very strange when I do the bartering while Commando stands by and watches. On our penultimate full day in Agadir we decided to take a little trip to the souk to see if I still had the knack. Continue reading A palace and a souk in one walk – first published 11 august 2012
Kasbah ghost town, argan oil and a mosque – first published 10 august 2012

After a week spent mostly lazing on the beautiful Agadir beach or by the pool it was time to experience a bit of culture. As my lovely Geordie friend, Holly, owns a tour company we decided to hire one of her guides for the day and, for once, we did the tourist thing. It was both an interesting and moving experience. Happy birthday Commando – first published 9 august 2012

The whole point of our Moroccan holiday was to celebrate Commando’s fiftieth birthday and this was the day. The pool man had something up his sleeve because he told me to make sure Commando didn’t come near our sun beds before breakfast. I had no idea what he was up to but I was itching to find out. sun, food and bad manners – first published 7 & 8 August 2012
Holidays are about relaxing and a little indulgence. So far on our 2012 Moroccan adventure the heat had killed my appetite but, unfortunately, this didn’t last and there was a little overindulgence. Some of it was accidental. Continue reading sun, food and bad manners – first published 7 & 8 August 2012
A VISIT AND A RADIOACTIVE SEAGULL – First published 6 August 2012

Holidays are about relaxing, sampling the local food and culture, and seeing the sights. There was one particularly unusual sight on our Moroccan holiday in August 2012 that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. Continue reading A VISIT AND A RADIOACTIVE SEAGULL – First published 6 August 2012
leaving on a jet plane – first published 5 August 2012
As we have just booked a little holiday for later in the month (more about that later) I thought this would be a good time to tell you about a rather special holiday we had in August 2012. The Mad House was behind me and an exciting new job ahead. Between the two we were off to Morocco to celebrate Commando’s big-five-o. One last burst of sun before the end of summer and a bit of relaxation after some hard months. Is there any better place to enjoy sun and relaxation than the beach at Agadir? Of course we had to get there first and there were a few moments when I didn’t think we’d make it. Continue reading leaving on a jet plane – first published 5 August 2012
A day of last ever’s – first published 3 August 2012
From the get go Mad House had been my job nightmare. Incessant phone calls, a total lack of control over every little thing, people shouting in my ear, targets I had no hope of hitting and having to sell things I didn’t believe in to people who didn’t want them. Not a lot to like really. Because of the holiday I booked before the redundancy announcement I was leaving a week before everyone else. You’d have thought my last day would be a joyous occasion, filled with laughter. It didn’t quite turn out like that… Continue reading A day of last ever’s – first published 3 August 2012
Climbing, Skimming, scattering – first published 1 September 2013
It’s funny how history repeats itself. Just over two years ago we were scattering my lovely Mother In Law’s ashes on the little garden of her holiday home at Lulworth cove. This week we were doing the same thing in a different way with Commando Senior’s ashes. It’s not an enviable task but one we will all probably have to be involved in at some point in our lives and it has a beauty and serenity to it. Continue reading Climbing, Skimming, scattering – first published 1 September 2013
A cat mystery – first published on 30 July 2012

It’s been a tough job slowly looking through the posts from my, now defunct, Fatgirlslimblog, deciding what to keep and what to discard. It feels a little like spring cleaning with a big pile of junk and a smaller pile of things to keep. Sometimes it’s hard to decide which pile to put things in. The following post is one I knew was a keeper from the outset though. Continue reading A cat mystery – first published on 30 July 2012
